Apple on Tuesday announced an updated MacBook Pro that now comes with octa-core processors for the first time. The 8-core MacBook Pro uses the 8th- and 9th-generation Intel Core processors to deliver two times faster performance compared to a quad-core MacBook Pro and a 40 per cent faster performance compared to a 6-core MacBook Pro.

The new and updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and 15-inch MacBook Pro are priced at Rs 1,59,900 and Rs 1,99,900, respectively. The Mac notebooks will be available through Apple Authorised Resellers in India later this week. With faster 6- and 8-core Intel Core processors, the new 15-inch MacBook Pro can deliver Turbo Boost speeds up to 5.0 GHz. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, on the other hand, gets a faster quad-core processor that can hit Turbo Boost speeds of 4.7 GHz. Apple says the new processors coupled with powerful graphics, a stunning Retina Display, super-fast SSDs, Apple’s T2 Security Chip, all-day battery life and macOS Mojave, make MacBook Pro the “world’s best pro notebook.”

Apple details some of the benefits of having a two-time fast processor for pro users. 3D designers, for example, can render scenes up to two times faster in Maya Arnold. Photographers can apply complex edits and filters up to 75 percent faster in Photoshop and video editors can edit up to 11 simultaneous multicam streams of 4K video in Final Cut Pro X.

“Whether it’s college students mastering a course of study, developers building world-class apps or video editors creating feature films, we’re constantly amazed at what our customers do with their MacBook Pro,” said Tom Boger, Apple’s senior director of Mac Product Marketing.
