Hall of Fame first baseman Orlando Cepeda was rushed to a Bay Area hospital on Monday night for undisclosed reasons.
The native of Puerto Rico was an 11-time All-Star, the 1958 National League Rookie of the Year and the 1967 National League MVP.
During his MVP season, Cepeda hit .325 with 25 home runs and 111 RBI.
Cepeda also won his first and only World Series that year.
All told, Cepeda hit .297 with 379 home runs and 1,365 RBI in 2,124 MLB games. He ranks 71st on the all-time home run list and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.
