In Delhi Cricket fans were eager to see off the victorious Team India on Sunday. The players of the Indian cricket team including their captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni have left for Mohali, Chandigarh where the 4th ODI of the series is due to take place. The England team also left with the Indian team.
A shopkeeper, Mahesh Sharma, who has a beetle-shop near the hotel, said, Around 2000 fans had gathered around a posh hotel where the players had put up. “It looks as if the crowd has gathered to say good bye to the players. The fans started coming from 8am,”
Ranchi SP (city) Vipul Shukla said there were less number of people at the airport though. “We had deployed a large number of security personnel at the airport as we expected a huge crowd at the airport. But it was a hassle-free affair.”
People who gathered at the hotel were brimming with excitement. “I am a poor boy who could not afford to buy tickets for the match. I am a big fan of Virat Kohli and just wanted to see him.”
An official said, “The airport is yet to be inaugurated. As it is not inaugurated the authorities have not set up X-ray machines and other equipment for necessary formalities prior to boarding.”
Ranchi airport director R R Kumar said: “The players did not have any problem at the old airport. Their boarding was smooth and they took off on time.”
